Hot Tub Motors & Pumps - Washington Suppliers
Spa Motors and Pumps
The terminology for hot tub motors and pumps can be confusing. To clarify, each hot tub “pump” consists of a motor and a wet end. The wet end is the part containing the impeller and includes the water input and outputs. The motor is the electrical component that turns the impeller and is connected to the pump by a shaft. The pump end contains water and therefore must be sealed around the shaft that connects it to the motor. The seal is the most common site of failure in a hot tub motor/pump. The seal can leak, which will in turn cause moisture issues with the motor. Another possible cause of pump failure is if debris gets into the pump, which can damage the impeller or cause it to jam. Bearing failure is also common and can cause damage to the motor component.
