Hot Tub Decks - Advice From Apollo Spas

Getting ready for a new hot tub? When building a deck for your new hot tub, there are a few important things to consider.

First, will you be able to access your hot tub in case one of the components or plumbing needs service? A leaky hose or jet far from your main equipment is unlikely, but still very possible. You don't want to have to dismantle your entire deck to allow a service tech access to your spa. When you design your backyard masterpiece, make sure you allow access to all sides of the hot tub through a crawl space or removable section of deck.

Also, If you plan to place the spa on top of the deck, make sure you build it strong enough and with enough structural support to withstand the weight of the hot tub, the water and the people. You can see the weight calculations for our different hot tub models in our owner manual.

What kind of hot tub foundation do you really need?

Most hot tubs require a concrete pad or deck. Some manufacturers actually make this requirement a condition of warranty coverage. One of the best features of an Arctic Spa is the Forever Floor, which eliminates the need for an external hot tub foundation. An Arctic Spa can simply be placed on a firm level surface, the structural base is built right in!

If you have already purchased a hot tub without a Forever Floor, we still want to help you. After all, you may want a new cover or some other hot tub supplies one day and we want to be there for you when you do.
